A Mother Worried By Having Young Drivers!!
|
Judy is a worried mother of three with young sons and a daughter... She has had an experience that has become all too familiar with a lot of parents, one where she lost a car, which could have been a lost son....
Judy has a seventeen year old son, who has been a great kid. He’s not really done anything wrong or caused his parents much grief at all. On a Saturday night, their family was having a party and there were the usual friends and family invited. It was late, there was some alcohol being consumed but Judy was happy that the party was travelling nicely, and on that basis informed her sons and their mates that she was tired that she was going to bed.
At about 4 am one of her sons friends decided he needed some cigarettes and convinced Judy’s son to take them for a quick drive to the local servo. That was the simple idea that changed a lot of lives.
You see Judy’s son was not licensed and his car was uninsured. He had been drinking but by no means was he totally inebriated. He was at the time, by his account in control. The drive to the shop, turned out to be disastrous.
Judy’s son lost control of the car. He smashed the car between a light post and a tree. On his way to the impact point had been up three gutters and gouged the nature strips of three of their neighbour’s houses. Judy’s son received from this experience a loss of his license for nine months, he received a car that is totalled and uninsured and more importantly lost the trust of his parents, something that he had always had.
His friends were extremely lucky not to be injured or worse and apart from reputation the only thing that was lost can be replaced. Judy was thankful that that was all that was lost and understood the value of protecting drivers first and foremost, as you can replace a car, but not your son!

Managing Directors are Dads too.
|
During my research for the company, I was shocked and disappointed by the support offered to younger drivers. As a parent with a 17 and 16 year old, I was both frustrated and annoyed about the lack of REAL support made available by the government in the formulative years of driving.
As parents we need to know that we have done everything we possibly can to prepare our children for this next adventure. Driving.
It’s not just knowing the road rules, it’s not just the technical process of being able to handle a piece of machinery, it’s their ability to manage all facets of being intertwined with other people. Truck drivers, car drivers, taxi drivers and pedestrians.
I believe we need to arm them better and fortunately as a result of Prepaid Cars and our Driver Protection Program I believe we can make a difference.
If you are a parent who shares my concerns or have other concerns please contact us and share your thoughts. It’s only going to be with the strength of numbers that we can make the conditions for our young drivers better, smarter and safer.
